Simon releases statement about hit on Hollweg
Statement from New York Islanders player Chris Simon about his two-handed stick attack to the face of New York Rangers forward Ryan Hollweg:
"After watching the tape the morning after Thursday's game, I was disgusted. There is absolutely no place in hockey for what I did.
I want to apologize to Ryan Hollweg. I was grateful to learn that Ryan is okay and that he returned to the game. My hope is to reach out to him in the near future.

Islanders forward Chris Simon was assessed a match penalty and ejected from a game after he hit Rangers forward Ryan Hollweg in the face with his stick. Simon has been suspended indefinitely.
