Report: NHLPA votes for escalator
The NHL Players' Association has voted to trigger the 5 percent escalator, meaning a higher salary cap for next season and the potential for bigger escrow payments, The Hockey News reported Wednesday night.
The vote means the salary cap for the 2012-13 season would be between $70.2 million and $70.3 million, according to The Hockey News.
That, however, could change with the league and NHLPA set to begin negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement Friday in New York.
