Canucks sign Cam Barker

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenseman Cam Barker to a one-year deal.

The deal is for $700,000, pro-rated, a source told ESPN.

Barker was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks third overall in the 2004 draft, behind Washington's Alex Ovechkin and Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin.

Barker missed most of last season with an ankle injury that required surgery.
