Wayne Simmonds leaves game

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds was leveled by an elbow to the head from Washington forward John Erskine with 1:51 left in the first period of Friday's game.

He didn't return.

"Obviously, he's got a head injury and probably a little bit of whiplash going on right now," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "He seemed OK after the game. We're just going to have to wait and see how he is (Saturday)."

No penalty was called on the play.
