NHL's head of officiating retiring

TORONTO -- Terry Gregson is retiring as the NHL's head of officiating.

Stephen Walkom will leave his job as an on-ice referee to take over as senior vice president and director of officiating, the league announced Wednesday.

It's a familiar role for Walkom, who held the position from 2005-09.

Gregson, who joined the front office in 2005 after a 25-year career as a referee, will serve as a consultant to the NHL on officiating matters, including the league's participation in ...
