Hall of Famer Allan Stanley dies

TORONTO -- Allan Stanley, a Hall of Fame defenseman who won four Stanley Cups with the Toronto Maple Leafs during a 22-year NHL career, has died. He was 87.

The NHL confirmed his death on its website.

Stanley started with the New York Rangers in the 1948-49 season and was traded to Chicago during the 1954-55 season. He played in Boston before landing in Toronto before the 1958-59 season.
