The Carolina Hurricanes have signed coach Bill Peters to a contract extension through the 2018-19 season, the team announced Wednesday. "Bill is a talented, young coach in the National Hockey League," said GM Ron Francis. "We are happy that he has made a commitment to the Hurricanes, and that he will be a major part of the team continuing to grow." This is a good move for the Hurricanes. The team is young and talented and fed off Peters' energy and knowledge of the game. In two seasons behind the bench, Peters, 50, has led Carolina to a 65-72-27 record.
