Capitals agree to send Sykora back to Czech team

WASHINGTON -- Center Petr Sykora will return to his club in
the Czech Republic after playing in 10 games with the Washington Capitals.

The Capitals assigned him to Pardubice of the Czech Republic Extraleague on Tuesday.

"Petr wanted to return to the Czech Republic and we have agreed
to the transfer," Capitals general manager George McPhee said.
"Given the development of our young players, and the need to
create room for them on our roster, we believe this is the best
decision for all involved."

Sykora had two goals and two assists for Washington.

He briefly played in the NHL for Nashville during the 1998-99
season, but he spent the past six years in the Czech Republic.
