With Foote injured, Jackets look to D Hainsey

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Defenseman Ron Hainsey was claimed on
waivers Tuesday by the Columbus Blue Jackets and will replace
injured Adam Foote.

Hainsey, put on waivers by Montreal, will join the Blue Jackets
in Minnesota for Wednesday night's game against the Wild. Foote,
listed as day-to-day with a strained groin, was placed on the
injured list retroactive to Nov. 23.

The 24-year-old Hainsey has appeared in 32 NHL games, and has a
goal and an assist. He has played 22 games this season with
Hamilton of the AHL, scoring three goals and adding 14 assists.

He was Montreal's first pick and the 13th overall in the 2000
draft.
