RALEIGH, N.C. -- Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Glen Wesley is expected to miss four to six weeks with a sprained knee ligament.

The 37-year-old Wesley sprained his knee on Dec. 31 in a 5-3 win against Montreal, Hurricanes president and general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement Tuesday.

Wesley, an alternate captain in his 18th year, has six points (one goal, five assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 30 games this season.
