Senators pick up Morrison off waivers as insurance

OTTAWA -- Looking for insurance while Dominik Hasek recovers from a groin injury, the Ottawa Senators claimed goalie Michael Morrison off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

Morrison started the season in the ECHL before playing his way
to Edmonton, where he posted a 10-4-0 record in 21 games. He had a
2.83 goals-against average and .884 save percentage.

Hasek was hurt while playing for the Czech Republic at the Turin
Olympics last month. Backup Ray Emery has started in his place for
the first-place Senators.

Morrison became expendable in Edmonton after the Oilers traded
for Dwayne Roloson on Wednesday.
