Lightning re-sign goalie Denis to three-year deal

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goaltender
Marc Denis to a three-year, $8.6 million contract on Tuesday.

The Lightning obtained Denis from the Columbus Blue Jackets last
Friday for left wing Fredrik Modin and goalie Fredrik Norrena. He
will replace John Grahame, who signed with Carolina, as Tampa Bay's
starting goalie.

"When we traded for Marc, it was our plan to attempt to
negotiate a long-term deal while recognizing that if we were
unsuccessful he would be eligible for unrestricted free agency
after the upcoming season," Lightning general manager Jay Feaster
said. "From our first conversation, Marc told us that he shared
our interest in a long-term deal, and being able to have him signed
and in the fold for at least the next three seasons is a very
significant accomplishment for our organization."

Denis, 28, has a career record of 94-156-28 with a 2.97
goals-against average. He was 21-25-1 last season, including 17-6-1
when the Blue Jackets scored at least three goals.
