Preds re-sign Tootoo, prospect; sign ex-Thrasher Abid

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Nashville Predators re-signed right winger Jordin Tootoo to a two-year contract amid a trio of moves Friday.

Tootoo appeared in 34 games last season, notching four goals and 10 points. He finished tied for third on the club with a plus-9 rating and recorded 55 penalty minutes.

A fourth-round pick of the Predators in 2001, the 23-year-old Tootoo has eight goals and 18 points in 104 career games.

In other moves, Nashville re-signed defenseman Sheldon Brookbank to a one-year contract and signed left winger Ramzi Abid, who had been with the Atlanta Thrashers.

Brookbank, 25, had nine goals, 35 points and a team-high 232 penalty minutes in 73 games with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League last season.

Selected 28th overall by Colorado in 1998, Abid notched two assists in six games with the Thrashers this past season. In 75 games with AHL Chicago, Abid had 34 goals and 42 assists.
