Wings extend contracts for GM Holland, assistant Nill

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings signed general manager Ken
Holland and assistant general manager Jim Nill to contract
extensions Friday, keeping both in the team's front office through
the 2010-11 season.

"Mr. (Mike) Ilitch wanted to get this done, so we're all very
excited about it," said senior vice president Jim Devellano,
referring to the team owner. "Both of them had two years left on
their contracts and other clubs were inquiring about both Kenny and
Jim. So, we wanted to lock them up with contracts that will give us
continued continuity in our front office."

Holland, who is also a vice president of the team, was promoted
to general manager in 1997 after 15 years working for the franchise
