Ducks sign C Pahlsson to two-year extension

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Ducks on Sunday
signed center Samuel Pahlsson to a two-year contract extension
through the 2008-09 season.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Pahlsson, 28, is widely considered one of the top defensive
forwards in the NHL. The Swede played in all 82 games with the
Ducks last season, registering a career-high 11 goals and 10
assists. He has not recorded a point in Anaheim's first two
games this season.

"Samuel Pahlsson has established himself as one of the best
two-way centers in the league," Ducks general manager Brian
Burke said. "We rely on him to kill penalties, win faceoffs and
shut down opposing teams' top lines. And he does all those
things well."

Pahlsson has 33 goals and 54 assists in 356 career games over
five-plus seasons with Anaheim and Boston. He has played in 195
consecutive games, the longest active streak in Ducks club
