Canucks hand president, CEO reins to Zimmerman

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The Vancouver Canucks on
Thursday named Chris Zimmerman president and CEO.

Zimmerman joins Orca Bay Sports Entertainment, which owns the
Canucks, after previously serving as president and CEO of Nike
Bauer Hockey Inc. for the past three years.

"After conducting an extensive search, we as an ownership group
believe we have found just the right person to lead our
executive group and Canucks organization in building the
business for the future," Orca Bay Sports Entertainment
chairman John McCaw Jr. said.

A native of New York, Zimmerman played four seasons for the
University of Vermont hockey team. He later served as an
assistant coach at Babson College, helping the Division III
program reach the national championship game in 1982.

"As a life-long hockey fan, I have always wanted to work in a
city where the community has such a passion for the game,"
Zimmerman said. "It's exciting to be able to join this
organization and help to continue to build the business."

Zimmerman also has served as general manager of Nike Golf USA,
where he helped establish the brand as an industry leader, and
spent 16 years in a variety of senior advertising positions.
