After hit by Blues' Nieminen, Detroit's Lebda carried off

Brett Lebda Lebda

DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brett Lebda was
carried off the ice on a stretcher minutes into Saturday's game
with the St. Louis Blues after having his face rammed into one of
the metal stanchions that supports the glass behind the Detroit
net.

The Red Wings said Lebda had a concussion, and was taken to
Detroit Medical Center for precautionary tests.

Lebda, who was knocked into the metal support by a forearm from
St. Louis' Ville Nieminen, waved to the crowd as he was being taken
off.

Nieminen received a major penalty for boarding and a game
misconduct.
