Giguere out until Monday because of family concerns

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Anaheim Mighty Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere will remain in Southern California this weekend to be with his family.

Giguere and his wife, Kristen, are dealing with a non-life-threatening medical condition involving their newborn son, Maxime Olivier. The goalie is expected to rejoin the team Monday.

"J.S. and his wife, Kristen, are dealing with an issue of much greater importance than hockey games," Ducks general manager Brian Burke said in a statement. "Our entire organization supports them during this difficult time and asks that their privacy be respected."

The Ducks entered the weekend with 107 points and were the No. 2 seed in the West, four points behind the Detroit Red Wings.

Giguere is having one of his finest season's as a professional. His 36-10 record is the best of his career, and his 2.26 goals against average is his lowest since the 2001-02 season.
