Forward acquired in Forsberg trade gets new deal

PHILADELPHIA -- Flyers forward Scottie Upshall signed a new two-year contract with Philadelphia on Friday.

Upshall was acquired as part of February's trade involving Peter Forsberg. Upshall appeared in 18 games for the Flyers after the trade on Feb. 15. He had six goals and seven assists.

The Flyers acquired the 23-year-old Upshall, defenseman Ryan Parent and first- and third-round picks in the upcoming draft from the Nashville Predators for Forsberg.

In four seasons, Upshall has tallied 17 goals and 25 assists in 95 games. He was selected sixth overall by the Predators in the 2002 draft.
