Center Park signs extension with Islanders through 2010

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Center Richard Park signed a two-year
extension with the New York Islanders through the 2010 season.

Park had 10 goals and a career-high 16 assists last season, his
first with the Islanders after attending training camp on a tryout.

"To say I'm happy would be an understatement," Park said in a
release Sunday. "Since the first day of training camp last year, I
was determined to make the most of the chance Garth Snow and Ted Nolan gave me."

The 31-year-old has 60 goals and 73 assists in 452 career
regular-season games with the Islanders, Pittsburgh, Anaheim,
Philadelphia, Minnesota and Vancouver. He was originally drafted
50th overall by Pittsburgh in 1994.
