Zubov placed on IR retroactive to Jan. 17 with groin injury

DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars have placed defenseman Sergei Zubov on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 17 and recalled
goaltender Tobias Stephan from Iowa of the AHL.

Zubov, 37, has missed seven games with a groin injury. In a
statement issued Thursday, the Stars said Stephan would back up
goaltender Mike Smith Thursday night in Minnesota.

The Stars said they will leave starting goalie Marty Turco in Dallas as a precaution with a sore neck.

Stephan, 24, made his NHL debut Oct. 13 at Chicago and blocked
38 of 40 shots in a 2-1 overtime loss. In 39 American Hockey League
games, he's 17-16-2 with a 2.60 goals-against average, a .907 save
percentage and two shutouts.
