Procedure will be his second

TORONTO -- Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonas Gustavsson will undergo his second heart procedure in less than three months.

The team said Thursday that Gustavsson met with a cardiac specialist after being taken to hospital Tuesday night with an elevated heart rate. Gustavsson experienced symptoms in the first period of Toronto's 3-0 victory over Montreal that night, and was pulled from the game at the first intermission.

The Swedish rookie, 25, will undergo the non-surgical procedure Friday to correct an abnormal heart rhythm. He also had the procedure during training camp.

The Leafs also announced that rookie Carl Gunnarsson would miss the next six weeks with a hyperextended elbow suffered in Monday's loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
