Todd Bertuzzi could return vs. Leafs

Johan Franzen and Pavel Datsyuk have been ruled out for the Detroit Red Wings' game Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but Todd Bertuzzi could play.

Bertuzzi has a back injury but told the Detroit News on Friday that he's feeling better.

"It's better than it was," he told the newspaper. "I got some work on it and taken care of and hopefully it settles down. I can't risk my back like that. If I continue to make it worse, it'll just end up to a point where I can't play."

Franzen has missed the last three games with a groin injury but is aiming to return Monday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

"It feels good but I'm not pushing it 100 percent out there," Franzen told the News. "Keeping it from getting any worse. It was one step forward."

Datsyuk has not played since March 17 because of a lower-body injury. There is no timetable for his return but he wants to play in "a few" regular-season games before the playoffs begin.

"It would help me," Datsyuk told the newspaper. "I'm tired of watching [the games on] television. I want to be on television."

Defenseman Jonathan Ericsson, who was sick, missed practice Friday.
