Whitney's Second Career Ot Goal Is Worth The Wait
From Elias: Ray Whitney scored the second playoff overtime goal of his NHL career to give the Coyotes a 4-3 win in Game 1 of their series against the Predators. Whitney scored his first playoff overtime goal nearly 17 years ago, for the San Jose Sharks in May 1995 in Game 7 of their first-round series against Calgary. With his game-winner on Friday night Whitney now holds the NHL record for the longest gap between playoff overtime goals, breaking the mark held by Teemu Selanne, who went a little more than 14 years between playoff OT goals in April 1993 for Winnipeg and May 2007 for Anaheim.

Whitney: Long Journey To A Milestone
From Elias: Ray Whitney became the oldest player in NHL history to reach the 1,000-point mark with his assist on the Coyotes' third goal in their 4-0 win against the Ducks on Saturday night. (He notched his 1,001st point with a goal 40 seconds later.) Whitney - 39 years, 328 days old on Saturday - broke the standard set by Nicklas Lidstrom, who was 39 years, 170 days old when he scored his 1,000th NHL point on Oct. 15, 2009. None of the 77 other NHL players to record 1,000 points hit that milestone beyond their 38th birthday.

Ex-oilers Torment Their Former Team
From Elias: A pair of former Oilers players, Ray Whitney and Raffi Torres, scored the two goals for the Coyotes in their shootout win at Edmonton on Sunday. Whitney, who played nine games for the Oilers in 1997-1998, has scored 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) in eight games against Edmonton over the last two seasons with Phoenix, with at least one point in every game. Torres, who played four seasons in Edmonton, had been goalless in eight games versus the Oilers since he recorded a hat trick against them for the Canucks on November 2, 2010.
