Injuries (groin, back and lower-body) limited his season to just 54 total games, 48 with the Panthers. His numbers have been on the decline since he was once a regular on a line with the Sedin twins, but the potential is still there for offense from Samuelsson. He is always in the right place and likes to shoot the puck a lot. From a personnel perspective, he is the natural choice to replace Jiri Hudler amongst the top-six forwards for the Detroit Red Wings this season -- and that means playing with either Pavel Datsyuk or Henrik Zetterberg. It was only 2008-09 when Samuelsson played largely on a line with Zetterberg and Johan Franzen, so the familiarity should be easy to come by. If Samuelsson does land a role in the top six, then decent points, a solid plus/minus and lots of shots on goal should help fantasy owners for the back end of their roster.
