Alfredsson Shoots 12 Times, Scores Twice
From Elias: Daniel Alfredsson's second goal of the game was the empty-net tally in the final minute of the third period that wrapped up the Senators' 5-3 win over the Lightning, after Tampa Bay cut a 4-0 deficit to 4-3 with a late three-goal rally. It was the 61st multiple-goal game of Alfredsson's NHL career and his first since March 26, 2012 at Winnipeg. Alfredsson's empty-net goal came on his 12th and final attempted shot of the game (5 on goal, 5 blocked, 2 missed the net). He was the first Ottawa player other than injured defenseman Erik Karlsson to attempt a dozen or more shots in one game this season. Karlsson did that six times in the 14 games he played before suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon injury.
