By the next start, those thoughts are usually replaced by a string of expletives (if he happened to be starting on one's fantasy team). Set to turn 30 prior to the start of the 2012-13 season, Budaj will battle Cedrick Desjardins for the right to back up Carey Price, and given Price's durability, it's unlikely they're fighting for much more than 8 starts or so in this lockout-shortened campaign. Of the two potential backups, Budaj could have an edge, as the Habs may want to let Desjardins get a lot of starts down in the AHL instead of benchwarming. And as far as fantasy value is concerned, Budaj is best left on the waiver wire unless Price is injured.
