Rupp Furthers An Outdoors Tradition: Multi-goal Game For Visitor
Mike Rupp recorded his first two-goal game with the Rangers and the sixth multiple-goal game of his NHL career in New York's Winter Classic win at Philadelphia. Rupp was the sixth player to score two goals in an NHL game played outdoors, joining the Canadiens' Yanic Perreault and Richard Zednik (2003 at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium), the Red Wings' Jiri Hudler (2009 at Wrigley Field), the Capitals' Eric Fehr (2011 at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field) and the Flames' Rene Bourque (2011 at Calgary's McMahon Stadium). Bourque remains the only player to score two goals for the home team in an NHL outdoor game.
