Wings Defensemen Provide Offense
From Elias: The Red Wings evened their series against the Blackhawks at one win each with a 4-1 victory in Game 2. Defenseman Brendan Smith scored the game-winning goal, and fellow backliners Jakub Kindl, Jonathan Ericsson and Niklas Kronwall each recorded an assist for Detroit. It was the first time that the Red Wings had four different defensemen register points in the same playoff game since 2011, when Ericsson, Kronwall, Nicklas Lidstrom and Brad Stuart all got their names in the scoring summary in Game 5 Detroit's second-round series versus San Jose. Three other teams have had four D-men with points in one game in this year's playoffs: the Senators (Game 3 vs. Montreal), Capitals (Game 3 vs. the Rangers) and Islanders (Game 4 vs. Pittsburgh).

Kronwall Scores, Wings Winżit's That Simple
From Elias: Niklas Kronwall's goal was the game-winner for the Red Wings in their 2-1 victory over the Avalanche. Since February 9, Detroit has won all six games in which Kronwall has registered points (three goals, seven assists) and none of the seven games in which he failed to record a point.

What A Weekend For Kronwall
From Elias: Niklas Kronwall, who tallied one goal and two assists in the Red Wings' win over the Predators on Saturday, matched those totals in Detroit's 8-3 victory against the Canucks on Sunday. Kronwall is only the second defenseman in Red Wings history to score three or more points in each of two games played on consecutive days. Hall of Famer Red Kelly did that with five-point and three-point games against Chicago on Nov. 28-29, 1953. Since 1997-98, the only other NHL defenseman to post three-point games on consecutive days was Pittsburgh's Kris Letang on Feb. 11-12, 2012.

Kronwall The Star In Detroit's Win
From Elias: Niklas Kronwall became the first Red Wings defenseman to register three points in one game this season when he scored one goal and assisted on two others in Detroit's 4-0 win over Nashville. Kronwall scored three or more points in a game 10 times before this year, with at least one such game in each of the past five seasons, and he recorded three of the five three-point games by Red Wings defensemen last season.
