During the lockout, however, he was impressive during his work with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers: an 8-7-2 record coupled with a 2.46/.922 ratios split. Moreover, Ellis certainly had his moments as Jonas Hiller's backup the past two campaigns in Anaheim: just nine wins in 23 appearances, but a 2.51 GAA and .915 SV% over that span. The backup's duty in Carolina is not too extensive -- starter Cam Ward is an ironman -- but if Ellis wins that gig, he may have some value for a team expected to make significant strides this season.","seasonId":2013,"date":"Thu Jan 10"},"playerRater30DAY":-13.6,"playerRater15DAY":0.8,"positionRank":82}
