Carter Is First King With A Playoff Hat Trick Since Gretzky
From Elias: Jeff Carter scored the final three goals in the Kings' 4-0 win in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals on Tuesday night. It was the first hat trick by a Kings player in the playoffs since Wayne Gretzky's three-goal night in Game 7 of the 1993 Campbell Conference Final at Toronto. Carter was only the fourth NHL player since 1999 to record a "natural" hat trick in the playoffs. The others were Detroit's Darren McCarty (2002), San Jose's Patrick Marleau (2004) and Detroit's Johan Franzen (2010).
