Now the 26-year-old Czech forward is bringing his game to the NHL, but unfortunately he will be out indefinitely to start the season. Blood clot issues means we will have to wait to see what Cervenka brings to the table. When he does, there are some questions to answer. Is Cervenka truly a late bloomer who will come to North America and show that he was passed over? Or will he be another non-draft import who joins a long list of flunked projects? Cervenka certainly has a leg up on some of the other imports because the KHL is, definitely, the best international proving ground. Jagr's return to the NHL is proof enough that KHL stats translate well. It can't be claimed that Cervenka was drafting off Jagr for his success, either, as his dominant postseason performance last season was done without a future NHL Hall of Famer on his line.
