Why these playoffs are big for the Wings

It would have been easy to write the Detroit Red Wings off heading into their second round matchup with the highly touted Chicago Blackhawks. Brunner Ends Goal Drought

From Elias: Damien Brunner ended his 15-game goal drought when he scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Red Wings in their 3-2 victory over the Avalanche. Brunner's last two goals before Monday came in Detroit's 8-3 win against the Canucks on February 24. Brunner was tied for seventh in the NHL with 10 goals through that date and he was the second-highest goal-scorer among Western Conference players, behind the Sharks' Patrick Marleau with 12 goals.
