It's no secret that Penner has been pretty much abominable with the Los Angeles Kings in the regular season. Whether you look at his six points in 19 games after the 2011 trade deadline or his 17 points in 65 games last season, the points are a shade of what he used to score as the main offensive cog on the Edmonton Oilers a few seasons ago. Still, Penner looked pretty useful again in the postseason when he played on a consistent line with Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. His 11 points in 20 postseason games brought him within six points of what he produced in the entire regular season. Still, looking to Penner before this season starts is just a shot in the dark at this point, as he has shown us nothing in the regular season.
