So adding Giguere to the mix made a ton of sense; at worst, they'd have a reliable veteran to handle a heavy workload if Varlamov got dinged up again. While Varly struggled in the early parts of the season, Jiggy was consistently good throughout the campaign (for months in which he started more than one game, his SV% never dipped below .911, and went as high as .933). It remains to be seen whether Varlamov can handle a full starter's workload again, so Giguere will be waiting in the wings once again.
