Howard Blanks The Blackhawks In Game 4
Jimmy Howard recorded the second playoff shutout of his NHL career with a 2-0 victory in Game 4 of the Red Wings' series against the Blackhawks, after beating Chicago 4-1 in Game 2 and 3-1 in Game 3. This is the first time that Howard has allowed no more than one goal in each of three consecutive playoff games. In fact, before his current run of three straight wins, Howard had held an opponent to fewer than two goals in only five of his 36 career postseason games and only one of 24 games over the last three playoff years.

Howard Turns Back Penalty Shot To Preserve Shutout
Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard posted his third shutout of the season with a 3-0 win at Nashville in which he faced a third-period penalty shot by the Predators' Bobby Butler. It's only the second time that a Detroit goaltender has recorded a shutout in which an opponent attempted a penalty shot. The other Red Wings goaltender to do that was Corrado Micalef in a 2-0 win over the Islanders on Dec. 8, 1982. Hall of Famer Clark Gillies failed to score on his one-on-one showdown against Micalef in that game.
