Missing linemate Zach Parise certainly didn't help, as Zajac stumbled to 44 points and a minus-6 rating. It is still not completely clear how the Devils' top lines will sort out with Parise back this season, but Zajac will be behind the eight ball when things start. Expecting to miss as much as a month and a half of the NHL season after rolling his ankle in the offseason, Zajac will have to return to a Devils lineup that will have been playing without him for more than a dozen games. It remains likely that Zajac and Parise will be paired back up when he returns, given the success they have had as a duo in the past. That would mean a return to the 60-point pace for Zajac (though a return to the plus-20 region is less likely).
