All Things Must Pass
From Elias: At the 18th time of asking, the Oilers finally beat Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom at Xcel Energy Center. Edmonton beat the Wild, 6-1, and drove Backstrom from the game late in the first period after taking a 3-0 lead with only five shots on goal. Backstrom won all 17 previous home games he'd played for the Wild against the Oilers, holding Edmonton to two or fewer goals in all but two of those games. It was the second-longest home winning streak against one team by any goaltender in NHL history, behind Jacques Plante's 19-game winning streak against the Rangers in Montreal from 1952 to 1957.
