Brouwer Gets A Late Game-winner
From Elias: Troy Brouwer's goal with 1:27 remaining in the third period snapped a 3-3 tie and earned the Capitals a 4-3 victory at Boston and a three-games-to-two lead in the series. It was only the second time in franchise history that a Capitals player scored a go-ahead goal in the final two minutes in the third period of a playoff game. The other Washington player to do that was Craig Laughlin against the Islanders in Game 1 of the 1984 Patrick Division Final. The only other go-ahead goal in the last two minutes of the third period in a 2012 playoff game was scored by the Bruins' Zdeno Chara in Game 3 of this series. This is the first NHL playoff series in which each team scored a goal of that kind since the second-round matchup between the Penguins and Devils in 1995. Pittsburgh's Luc Robitaille scored a go-ahead goal in the last two minutes of regulation time in Game 1 and New Jersey's Scott Stevens did so in Game 2.

Ovechkin shrugs off third-period benching
Flashing that gap-toothed grin of his, Alex Ovechkin said all the right things Friday about being benched by Capitals coach Dale Hunter for all but 15 seconds over the final 14 minutes of Washington's 2-1 victory against Boston in Game 4 of their first-ro

Brouwer And Ovechkin Lead Stunning Rally
From Elias: The Capitals trailed 2-0 with less than four minutes to play in their game against the Islanders but Troy Brouwer scored twice to tie the score and Alex Ovechkin tallied in overtime to earn Washington a stunning 3-2 victory. It was only the third time in Capitals history that they won a game in which they trailed by two goals in the final four minutes of the third period. Washington's previous two such comeback wins were at Boston on Dec. 1, 1984 (5-4 in overtime) and at home against Atlanta on Dec. 6, 2002 (7-6 in overtime). The game against the Bruins in 1984 was the last time before Tuesday's amazing comeback that a Capitals player scored a pair of goals in the final four minutes of the third period to tie a game. The Washington player who did it back then was Bryan "Butsy" Erickson, with goals at 16:36 and 18:48 of the third period. Ovechkin's overtime goal was the 11th of his NHL career and his fourth against the Islanders. Since 2005-06, Ovechkin's first season, he's scored more overtime goals than any other NHL player. Daniel Sedin is second with 10 OT goals over the last seven seasons.
