Used sporadically by both Ron Wilson and Randy Carlyle last season, Franson managed to scrape together 21 points in only 57 games. A puzzling scenario, after the former Predator showed a real offensive aptitude in Nashville the season previous. The restricted free agent doesn't even have a contract at the time of this writing. If the Leafs aren't keen, hopefully the towering 25-year-old gets the chance to play regularly elsewhere. Franson's Two Goals Not Enough
From Elias: Defenseman Cody Franson scored two goals for the Maple Leafs in their Game Seven loss to the Bruins. Franson is only the third defenseman in NHL history to score two goals in the seventh game of a playoff series. The other D-men to do that were the Bruins' Brad Park in 1983 against Buffalo (Park's second goal was scored in overtime) and the Red Wings' Nicklas Lidstrom in 2010 at Phoenix.
