Girardi Breaks Scoreless Tie In Ot
The Rangers and Islanders were deadlocked in a thrilling goalless game at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday night until defenseman Dan Girardi scored with 3:11 elapsed in overtime to earn a 1-0 win for the Rangers. Girardi is the second defenseman in Rangers history to score an overtime goal in a 1-0 game (Brian Leetch did that against the Flames at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 7, 2002) and the second defenseman to end a previously goalless NHL game this season. Tyson Barrie's OT goal on March 30 gave the Avalanche a 1-0 win over the Predators.
