With just one season remaining on Phil Kessel's contract in Toronto, the Leafs must decide how much they value their star sniper.

Kessel Helps Toronto Force Game 7
From Elias: Phil Kessel's goal at the 8:59 mark of the third period proved to be the game-winning goal for the Maple Leafs in their 2-1 victory in Game 6 of their series against the Bruins. It was Kessel's third goal of the series and second game-winner; he also scored the decisive marker in Game 2. Kessel's goal-scoring frequency in this series against his former team stands in sharp contrast to his regular-season totals versus the Bruins since they traded him to Toronto in September 2009: three goals in 22 games (all on power plays) and no game-winning goals. Only two other former Bruins players have had two game-winning goals against Boston in a postseason series: Reggie Leach for the Flyers in the 1976 semifinals and Gary Ehman for the Maple Leafs at the same stage in 1959.

Another Multi-point Game For Kessel
From Elias: Phil Kessel scored two goals in the Maple Leafs' 4-0 win against the Panthers. It was Kessel's fourth two-goal game of the season and his 16th multiple-point game this year. The only NHL players with more multi-point games this year than Kessel are Sidney Crosby, Steven Stamkos and Martin St. Louis with 17 each.

Another Two Goals For Kessel
Phil Kessel scored both goals for the Maple Leafs in their shootout loss to the Rangers at Madison Square Garden, two days after he ended a personal nine-game goal drought by scoring twice in the Leafs' win at Toronto in the first game of their home-and-home set against the Rangers. It's the first time that a Toronto player has scored two or more goals in each of two consecutive team games since Kessel did so in October 2011. That's also the only other time Kessel registered back-to-back multi-goal games in his seven-season NHL career.

Kessel Ends Drought With Two Goals Against Lundqvist
From Elias: Phil Kessel ended a personal nine-game goal drought when he scored a pair of goals for the Maple Leafs in their 4-3 win over the Rangers. His first goal gave Toronto a 3-1 lead in the last minute of the second period, and 39 seconds after the Rangers tied the score in the third period Kessel shot a rebound past Henrik Lundqvist for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Kessel has scored 177 goals in his seven seasons in the NHL but he's had very little success when facing Lundqvist. Before Monday, Kessel had scored only three goals in 20 career games against "King Henrik" and two of those goals came in one game (Oct. 15, 2010).
