Brothers Each Score Within A Minute
From Elias: The Hurricanes overcame a 2-0 deficit in their 4-2 win over the Islanders at Nassau Coliseum. The turning point in the game came late in the second period when Eric Staal got Carolina on the scoreboard with a goal at the 18:28 mark and his brother, Jordan, scored 45 seconds later to tie the game at 2-2. The Staals were the first pair of brothers to score goals less than 60 seconds apart in a NHL game since Feb. 27, 1990, when the North Stars' Neal and Aaron Broten scored goals 55 seconds apart in the third period of a game against the original Winnipeg Jets. Before the Staals, the last pair of brothers to score goals no more than 45 seconds apart in a NHL game was Peter and Anton Stastny for the Quebec Nordiques on March 18, 1989 versus the Rangers (33 seconds).
