Hot Start By New Acquisition
From Elias: Jamie McGinn scored two goals for the Avalanche in its 5-4 shootout win at Buffalo, including a score-tying goal with 1.9 seconds remaining to play in the third period. McGinn has scored seven goals in the eight games he's played since he was traded to Colorado by San Jose on deadline day (February 27). He's the sixth player in Nordiques/Avalanche franchise history to score at least seven goals in his first eight games with the team. The other players to do that were Real Cloutier (7), Wilf Paiement (7), Joe Sakic (8), Theo Fleury (8) and Marek Svatos (7).

Mcginn's Breakout Will Surprise The Fans In San Jose
From Elias: Jamie McGinn's first two goals since the trade that sent him from the Sharks to the Avalanche last week were the only goals in Colorado's 2-0 win at Minnesota. McGinn scored 27 goals in the 204 games he played for San Jose but he never scored more than one goal in any single game for the Sharks. He needed only three games in an Avalanche uniform to record his first multi-goal game.
