Simmonds Is 4th Flyers Player With A Hat Trick This Season
From Elias: Wayne Simmonds registered the first hat trick of his NHL career when he scored three goals for the Flyers in their 5-3 win over the Hurricanes in Raleigh. Simmonds, who had scored only two goals in his last 20 games entering play on Saturday, is the fourth different Flyers player to get a hat trick this season, the highest total for any team in the league (the others are Matt Read, Jakub Voracek and Scott Hartnell). The only other NHL team with more than two different tricksters this season is Anaheim (Nick Bonino, Kyle Palmieri and Andrew Cogliano).

Simmonds Scores Key Goal In Three Straight Flyers Wins
From Elias: Wayne Simmonds scored the game-winning goal when the Flyers edged the Senators, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon. Simmonds was also credited with the game-winner in each of Philadelphia's previous two victories, against Winnipeg and Washington (with a loss to Toronto between those games). He's the fourth NHL player to score the deciding goal in each of three consecutive team wins this season. The first three players to do that were San Jose's Patrick Marleau, Montreal's Andrei Markov and Pittsburgh's James Neal.

Simmonds Scores A "gordie" Plus One
From Elias: Wayne Simmonds notched the second "Gordie Howe hat trick" of his NHL career in the Flyers' 6-5 win at Pittsburgh and this one had a little something extra, as he scored two goals in addition to recording an assist and a fighting major. Simmonds is only the third NHL player in the last five seasons to register a "Gordie Howe hat trick" that included a multiple-goal performance. The other players to do that since 2008-09 were the Flames' Jarome Iginla (Jan. 30, 2010) and the Flyers' Scott Hartnell (Jan. 11, 2011).
