From Elias: Justin Abdelkader recorded the first hat trick of his NHL career when he scored three goals in the Red Wings' 5-1 win at Anaheim. Abdelkader, who was born in Muskegon, is only the third Michigan native to register a hat trick for the Red Wings. The others were Jimmy Carson (four, the last in November 1992) and Kevin Miller (one in February 1992).
