Nevertheless, Salak and journeyman Ray Emery will be competing during training camp for the right to be Corey Crawford's primary backup. Should Emery win the battle, Salak's value will thereby plummet; on the other hand, Salak would have decent value as Crawford's backup, given that this will only be Crawford's second season as the team's primary starter, and the team may want to only increase his starts by a modest amount.
