Bruins-sens Game Features A Shootout, Literally And Figuratively
From Elias: Bruins-Sens game features a shootout, literally and figuratively The Bruins outshot the Senators, 50-47, in their 3-2 win on Tuesday night. The 97 shots on goal matched the highest two-team total in an NHL game over the last 20 seasons. The only other game with that many shots since 1993-1994 took place on April 15, 2006, when Washington posted a 2-1 shootout victory at Florida, after outshooting the Panthers, 49-48. Over the last 30 seasons (i.e., since 1983-1984), the only other non-overtime NHL game with 97 or more shots on goal was the Sharks' 7-2 win against the Kings on Dec. 26, 1992. There were 99 shots in that game, 59 of them by the losing team. Tyler Seguin put 12 shots on goal and scored on one of them in Boston's win over the Senators. Seguin's 12 shots matched the highest single-game total by a Bruins player over the last 19 seasons. Brian Rolston had a 12-SOG game for Boston on March 24, 2001 (vs. Colorado) and Bill Guerin recorded a dozen shots on goal on November 8 that year (vs. Minnesota).
