Devils Nip Isles With 2 Late Goals
From Elias: The Devils were less than two minutes away from being shut out 1-0 for the second time in seven days by Islanders rookie Anders Nilsson until David Clarkson and Marek Zidlicky scored goals 14 seconds apart to enable New Jersey to steal a 2-1 win at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday night. It was the third time in franchise history that the Devils won a game in regulation time after trailing in the final two minutes of the third period. Their previous two such comeback victories were at Ottawa on Dec. 6, 2003 (2-1) and Feb. 5, 2010 vs. Toronto (4-3). The Devils have allowed no more than one goal in each of their last five games, tying the franchise record set back in November 2003.

Youth Is Served On Long Island
From Elias: Anders Nilsson posted his first NHL win in the Islanders' 1-0 victory against Martin Brodeur and the Devils on Sunday. Nilsson is only the fourth goaltender whose first career win in the NHL came in a game in which Brodeur was the opposing keeper of record. The other goaltenders who got their first NHL win at Brodeur's expense are Brian Boucher (Oct. 30, 1999), Henrik Lundqvist (Oct. 13, 2005), and Adam Berkhoel (Oct. 22, 2005). Berkhoel won only one more game in the NHL and is no longer playing professional hockey. Nilsson, who will turn 22 years old later this month, is the youngest goaltender to record a shutout for the Islanders since December 27, 1999, when a 20-year-old Roberto Luongo posted the first shutout of his NHL career and his only shutout in an Islanders jersey with a 3-0 win over the Bruins.
