Consistency Key To Scoring Title For St. Louis
From Elias: Martin St. Louis all but officially wrapped up his second NHL scoring title when he had a goal and an assist in Tampa Bay's season-ending loss to the Panthers. St. Louis, who also won the Art Ross Trophy in the 2003-04 season, finished with a total of 60 points while playing in all 48 games for the Lightning this year; he never went more than one game without scoring points. He racked up 12 points in January (in six games), 13 in February (14 games), 18 in March (14 games) and 17 in April (14 games). The only other NHL players with a double-figure point total in all four calendar months this season were Steven Stamkos, John Tavares and Patrick Kane.

Msl Takes Lead In Nhl Point-scoring Race
From Elias: Martin St. Louis recorded the seventh hat trick of his NHL career in the Lightning's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. With the three points from those goals St. Louis moved past Sidney Crosby into first place in the NHL point-scoring race. Crosby, who has not played since he suffered a broken jaw on March 30, had held at least a share of the scoring lead since February 26. Going into the game of March 30, Crosby had a 10-point lead in the Art Ross Trophy race over the No. 2 man, Steven Stamkos (56-46), and he was 13 points ahead of St. Louis, who was in fourth place (43). If the 37-year-old St. Louis does win the scoring title this season he would be the oldest points leader in NHL history, taking over a distinction that has been held by Hall of Famer Bill Cook for 80 years. Cook was 36 years old when he led the league in scoring for the Rangers in 1932-33.

Msl Is Getting Better With Age
From Elias: Martin St. Louis reached the 900-point mark for his NHL career when he recorded the first of his two assists for the Lightning in their 3-2 win against the Senators. St. Louis' second assist, which came on Steven Stamkos' game-winning goal in the third period, was his 40th assist of the season. It's the seventh consecutive season in which St. Louis has recorded 40 or more assists and the eighth time overall. The 37-year-old St. Louis needed only 39 games to reach the 40-assist mark this year, six games fewer than his previous best: 45 games in the 2009-10 season.
